The WS1D Wall Switch Dimmer is a high quality home automation dimmer switch that is capable of transmitting and receiving digital commands and status over the existing powerlines.
Designed to control incandescent, fluorescent, inductive, and magnetic low voltage devices
New for Generation II
Enhanced Noise Immunity
Generation I devices sometimes would not respond, even manually, if there was a certain amount of noise on the powerline. Generation II now alleviates this type of situation.
Receive Sensitivity Adjustment
Now you can adjust the receive sensitivity in UPStart to improve communication in excessive powerline noise.
Auto-Off Timers
Perfect for bathrooms and closets – configure a maximum amount of time to allow the light to stay on, between 1-240 minutes. If you forget to shut the light off, the device will do it automatically. It can also be configured to inform the rest of the network when it shuts off.
Quick-Tap
No long delays between tapping the rocker and having the light turn on.
Cool Blue LED
The new status LED color gives your wall switches a modern “high-tech” look.
Blink Link
A preset link when activated will blink the light!
Top Rocker Max-Out
Tap the top once for the load to ramp up to its preset light-level. Tap it once more for the load to ramp up all the way to 100%.
Manual Setup
Now you can enable or disable dimming, the on-level and fade rate with simple taps of the rocker switch.
Tap Transmit-Only
Tap (or double-tap) the rocker switch to transmit without affecting the light.
Operation
Tapping its paddle style rocker switch will turn on and off the lights while holding it down will fade the lights up and down. Separate light levels (anywhere between 0% and 100%) can be chosen for single-tap and double-tap events. Sixteen different fade rates can be selected – from instant-on to one hour – to give you ultimate flexibility in controlling how fast the lights fade on or off. The dimmer function can also be disabled, turning it into a switch, to allow the WS1D to turn on and off non-dimmable loads such as fluorescent lights and motors.
Three-way (or multi-way) light switch functionality can be obtained by connecting one (or more) RWS "remote” switches (sold separately) to its yellow traveler wire.
Receives From the Powerline
The WS1D will accept powerline commands from any UPB-compatible transmitter such as the PulseWorx Keypad Controllers, Timed Event Controller, Interface Modules, Approved Third-Party Controllers, Touch Screens, and even other WS1Ds. Each WS1D can be a member of up to 16 Links/scenes with the capability to store a pre-set light level and fade rate for each scene. Each pre-set light level can easily be adjusted by the homeowner using the innovative PulseWorx manual programming method.
Transmits To the Powerline
The WS1D can also be configured as a two-button transmitter. Select from a list of commands to be transmitted when each rocker button (top or bottom) is tapped, held or released. This allows the WS1D to remotely control other devices or update indicators (LEDs on our keypads).
Easy To Configure
Like all PulseWorx devices, the WS1D can be initially configured using PCS’s free UPStart Software setup tool. UPStart enables configuring such parameters as Network Name, Network ID, Unit ID, Room name, Device name, default on light levels, fade rates, LED colors, dimming disable, auto shut-off time, etc. As well as test the operation and communication strength of the device. UPStart has the option to configure an entire network off-line and then download the information into the devices after they are installed in the home.
PulseWorx Lighting Control System
The Wall Switch Dimmers are designed to be an integral part of a complete PulseWorx Lighting Control System. Like all PulseWorx devices, the WS1D uses the patented UPB™
Colors
Available in six different colors to match any décor.

powerline communication technology (invented by PCS) to reliably communicate with any other UPB-compatible device(s) over the existing house electrical wires. No new wires are necessary making PulseWorx perfect for retrofit situations. When initial configuration is complete, a single push of a button is all you need to activate any group of lights (or virtually anything else that connects to AC power wiring) throughout the house simultaneously.

Power Ratings
The power ratings of the Wall Switch Dimmer products are largely affected by their heat sinks, the size of the enclosure they are mounted in, and even the type of load they are controlling.
For instance, the WS1D-24 is rated at 2400W when mounted in an LCP-U enclosure and controlling an incandescent load. Its power rating goes down to 2000W when installed in a standard, single gang, deep j-box sized 50 cubic inches or greater and controlling an incandescent load. When controlling an inductive load it is rated at 1500VA, 120VAC when installed in the same single gang deep j-box.
The WS1D-15 is rated at 1500W when mounted in an LCP-U enclosure and controlling an incandescent load. Its power rating goes down to 1200W when installed in a standard, single gang, deep j-box sized 50 cubic inches or greater and controlling an incandescent load. When controlling an inductive load it is rated at 900VA, 120VAC when installed in the same single gang deep j-box.
The LCP-U allows greatly increased heat transfer and allows these wall switches to remain within design temperature limits. All ratings are further reduced when devices are installed in smaller boxes or multiple devices are installed in multi-gang boxes or heat sink fins are broken off to fit closer to other devices. The electrician should refer to the installation guide provided with each wall switch product for specific de-rating information.
